This has been shown to be very effective in healing more quickly after surgery. If you are having a knee or hip replacement, a session either in the hospital, or rehab center, or at home could really give you a jumpstart. Moving areas that were not part of your surgery, having massage where there is stagnant blood, and improving your circulation often really help healing. Having your feet or hands massaged, too, can lift your overall feeling. Just having a coach who is there for you to talk with about what your are feeling and where you want to go can be a great help.
